How to check your writing for clarity
Tips, takeouts and things to try
1
Writing has to be clear, otherwise people won’t understand what you’re talking about.
2
If you aren’t confident in your subject, you’ll resort to jargon; which is anything but clear.
3
To get back to basics, write as you would speak. Then read it out loud, and if a word feels funny or any of it sounds waffly, go back and do it again so that it sounds more natural.
Jargon busters…
Pick three of your ‘favourite’ buzzwords. Now write down what they mean in plain English. Now that’s a roadmap – err, plan.
