Why you should work standing up
Tips, takeouts and things to try:
Stop sitting down. In the last hundred years, the percentage of us with sedentary lifestyles has gone from 10% to 90%. This means that we’re spending most of our time on auto-pilot.
Keep moving. This will make you more conscious and trigger fresh thinking. For example, when you’re in an idea session, leave plenty of space to walk around.
A Stanford study showed that walking at your natural gait spikes your creativity by up to 60%. This is because we process information kinaesthetically.
Are you sitting comfortably?
Try writing your next email standing up, or take your next creativity hour to your local park.
